For quite a few years, renovating seemed to come with a compulsory colour palette: white walls, grey floors, white kitchen, black tapware. Add a fiddle-leaf fig and apparently you were done.
But things are changing.
One of the strongest interior trends in 2026 is warmth. Cooler greys and stark whites are making way for beige, caramel, mocha, olive, terracotta and warm timber tones. Bathrooms are becoming softer and more spa-like, kitchens are embracing timber and statement stone, and even the humble neutral is looking considerably less… neutral.
Texture is having a moment too. Fluted cabinetry, handmade-look tiles, natural stone finishes, curves and layered materials are replacing the perfectly flat, perfectly white surfaces we’ve been living with.
Perhaps most interestingly, personality is creeping back in. Homes are starting to look collected rather than catalogued – books on shelves, vintage pieces mixed with new furniture, interesting artwork and colour choices that don’t necessarily match everything else in the room.
For renovators, that doesn’t mean chasing every new trend.
But after years of playing it very safe, it seems we’re finally allowed to make houses feel like homes again.
And frankly, grey has had a very good run.
